Hank

By Dave LaMure

Dave LaMure Jr. has discovered a new glass technique which expresses the attributes of glass in this original artwork, “Hank”. This technique is similar to the lost wax bronze casting. It is a difficult process and his methods were followed with caution and care—similar to a tight rope walker without a net. Dave made “Hank” come to life by kiln casting glass over one of his original and refined art sculptures. When the kiln firing was complete, the final step was the strenuous process of polishing the glass to a lustrous, smooth finish. Dave refers to his holographic and polished pieces as “Art Under Glass”.

Dave sat down in Cave Creek, Arizona, in the winter of 2006 and sculpted some of Ray and Mary Nebergall’s horses—one in particular, whose name was Hank. He created most of the character of this glass piece.
