Waiting in the Wings Western Oil Painting

This western painting remains one of my favorites. I love to portray dramatic light and a variety of textures in my paintings. This painting captures the beauty of autumn on the Southfork, the drama of early morning light and the sights, sounds and smells of fall work on the TE ranch. This gray horse typifies what is so great about good ranch horses. They have a job and purpose here and until they are called upon, they are “Waiting in the Wings”.
