Wantha Deaton was 12 when her grandmother instilled in her the desire to learn more about china painting.

After taking private art lessons during high school, she studied art for a few years at the University of Oklahoma during the late 1960s. While the rest of the OU art department was drawing "soup cans" she was learning the ancient art form of china painting from elderly women with the International Porcelain Art Association.

In local interior design circles, Wantha is known for her china painting, kitchen backsplashes and bathroom lavatories. Although she is talented in other fine art media, including oils, acrylics, pastels and charcoals, china painting is her first love and where she has found a market. Her skills as an artist come through in her attention to color, depth, and detail.

Today she's the talent behind some first-rate Western designs, which have made their way in to homes across the country, and as far away as Japan and England.

Co-owner of Reflections of Joi with her daughters Joi and Tiffany, the product line features a mix of items for the home, including everything from toilets and porcelain bowls with twisted rope and barbwire borders to lamps featuring your personal brand.
