The work of Reid Crosby is a fusion of stunning natural material and cutting-edge metal work, bridging the gap between rustic and contemporary.

"My goal is to provide artistically relevant, heirloom-quality furniture with a simple sophistication," Reid says.

Look for designs stepping away from the norm and breaking fresh ground. Equally at home in a mountain retreat or an urban loft, Reid's furniture will inspire and captivate.

Reid works alone, doing both the woodwork and metal work from a small studio on a 20-acre farm in the heavily-forested ridges of western Pennsylvania.

"I source much of my 100,000+ board-foot wood inventory directly from land owners, urban tree trimmers, and construction sites locally. I do, on occasion bring in logs from as far away as California; if it's unique I want it!! I keep all my material in book-matched sequential cuts (boules) while in storage. This enables me to match wood color, texture, and figure within a given piece of furniture."

Clients also get the benefit of a broad selection of material to personally select from as well. Few builders go to these extremes as this represents a huge amount of work.

Much of the aluminum, stainless and pitted steel in his work is the product of frequent forays to scrap yards in this part of the country.

"It is as much economics as it is my environmental consciousness that leads me," he says. Reid provides the largest source of true wrought iron in North America.

"I am using some of this historic iron in my furniture designs as well as providing it to the blacksmithing community. Our iron is the official iron of Colonial Williamsburg and is being sold throughout the U.S. to high-end smiths."
