I have been an artist since I was old enough to hold a crayon and draw on the walls. After attending college and majoring in sculpture, I started a family and shortly thereafter, became a working artist. I entered the world of advertising and graphic arts where I spent 18 years as President of my own firm in Houston, Texas.

I have been a working artist my entire adult life. With 20 years in advertising and design beneath my belt, I moved to Santa Fe, NM. Initially, I took a position as Art Director for the local newspaper and also began creating a wholesale line of unique garments and jewelry. Eventually, my daughter, Carie Crain joined me and we developed 'Crain Design' a company which produced these lines for 15 years.

I returned to Texas in 2004 and began a new adventure...to follow my heart and become a full time studio artist. I found a home with a studio, a few acres and a fantastic view near Fort Worth, TX. I share my personal space with numerous cats, dogs, parakeets and parrots (all of which are more than willing models as well as critics of my work).

Over the years, as an artist, I have worked in numerous mediums. Currently, the major thrust of my work is mixed media (glass & clay) and painting.

My work reflects my life-long fascination of color, texture, textiles and primitive art of many cultures. Animals are a frequent theme in my work and my close association, love and respect of them is represented in a non-traditional form attempting to capture their humor, personalities, movement, spirit and beauty in a new light.
